A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu has revealed that former Governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole forced his preferred candidate on the party.
According to Ohonbamu, a former Deputy Speaker of Edo State, Oshiomhole was the leader of the APC in Edo State until last Saturday which was the day the party’s primary took place when he ceased to be the leader because he forced his chosen candidate, Hon. Dennis Idahosa on the party insisting that he (Idahosa) must be the APC’s governorship candidate in the state ahead of the coming election in September this year.
Speaking on AriseTV program, Ohonbamu disclosed that they stopped seeing Oshiomhole as the party leader after his imposition which many of them rebuffed. He stated that while Oshiomhole had the right to support whoever he liked, it was very wrong for him to force a candidate on the party in connivance with Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State who was the Chairman of the APC primary committee.
He further blamed Oshiomhole and Uzodinma for the confusion and controversy that trailed the contentious and separate primaries in Edo APC leading to the emergence of different candidates.
