Amid the ongoing dispute over the rightful Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, took a significant step by appointing Hamisu Sani as the new Ward Head of Kofar Mazugal in Dala Local Government area.
This marks Sanusi’s first official appointment since his reinstatement, amidst resistance from the deposed 15th emir, Aminu Bayero.
Emir Sanusi urged the newly appointed ward head to prioritize fostering peaceful coexistence among the local populace and to actively contribute to the overall development of the state.
With Sanusi solidifying his position, various district heads and notable figures, including representatives from religious and market communities, have been visiting the palace to pledge their allegiance.
These delegations encompassed groups such as the Ansarulddeen Tijjanniya sect and traders from renowned markets like Kantin Kwari and Singer market, among others.
Sanusi’s reinstatement as the 16th Emir of Kano came after the State Assembly and Governor Abba Yusuf enacted the Kano State Emirates Councils (Repealed) Bill 2024 into law, granting him a letter of reappointment. However, the return of the deposed Emir Bayero to reclaim his position has led to a legal standoff awaiting resolution in court.
