The death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South, who passed away at the age of 53 has been confirmed.
Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu confirmed his death on Saturday, however, he did not provide details surrounding Ubah’s death.
According to a source, Ubah had flown to the United Kingdom for surgery. This information has not been independently verified by Daily Trust at the time of reporting.
Ubah, who was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the time of his death, was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil. He was first elected to the Senate in 2019 under the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and was re-elected in 2023. He later defected to the APC.
In September 2022, Ubah narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when his convoy was attacked by gunmen in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least five people, including two policemen. Ubah survived the attack due to the bulletproof vehicle he was riding in.
