On Wednesday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) made its presence felt at the Labour Party secretariat, staging a protest against the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for the end of the month.
Amidst chants and banners, the NLC also called for the dismissal of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.
The leadership of the NLC alleged that Abure was orchestrating a clandestine convention, excluding the participation of key stakeholders. This move has sparked tensions between Abure, the NLC, and the House of Representatives caucus.
The workers vehemently accused Abure of orchestrating the demise of the Labour Party, expressing concerns over its future under his leadership.
Despite their fervent protests, the aggrieved workers found themselves barred from entering the party secretariat by the Nigeria Police Force, intensifying the standoff.
