The death of WCW remains a hot topic in the wrestling world, with various factors frequently discussed as contributing to its downfall. Bret Hart is among those who have shared his perspective on what led to the demise of the once-prominent wrestling organization.

The ”Who Killed WCW?” docuseries was produced by Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and the series premiered back in June, which ended up bringing the downfall of WCW back into the forefront again.

Many stars of the industry have given their thoughts on the matter already. WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner laid the blame on Brad Siegel and other senior executives at Turner Entertainment and Lex Luger had similar opinion.

While speaking to the Attitude Era Podcast, Bret Hart pointed to Eric Bischoff as responsible due to his role in managing the promotion. Hart also referenced an angle involving himself, Goldberg, and a steel plate, which included input from Hulk Hogan. According to Hart, Hogan’s influence overshadowed Bischoff’s authority, leading to the conclusion that both Hogan and Bischoff were accountable for WCW’s collapse.

“The truth is that in the end, I remember that day when Hogan was trying to change it or cancel it or ruin the whole idea. Eric Bischoff… he doesn’t really know what the hell he’s doing. He never ever did. But I remember he could never do anything and told me I had to get everything approved through Hulk Hogan. And that tells me that Hulk Hogan was the boss over Eric Bischoff, and Bischoff was just a frontman for Hogan. Between the two of them, they killed WCW. You can put it right on Hogan or Eric Bischoff. They’re both accountable.”

On the other hand, Hulk Hogan believes that WCW’s demise was due to executives and higher-ups. Nonetheless, WCW’s downfall will always be a hot topic and that will not be changing anytime soon.
