Don’t underestimate the Britney Army.
Britney Spears’ 2011 song “Selfish” is flying up the music charts as fans stream and buy the deep cut in hopes that it will outsell her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s new single of the same name.
Spears’ little-known track from the deluxe edition of her album “Femme Fatale” entered the Top 40 of the US iTunes chart Thursday, the same day Timberlake released the first offering from his forthcoming LP, “Everything I Thought It Was.”
As of press time, Spears’ “Selfish” is already up to No. 4, while Timberlake’s sits at No. 1.
The Britney Army has had beef with the former *NSYNC member since he infamously called out the Princess of Pop for cheating on him in his 2002 hit “Cry Me a River.”
However, Timberlake, 42, faced renewed backlash last year when Spears, also 42, revealed in her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” that she had an abortion during their relationship because he “definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy.”
