Bruno Guimaraes took a bit of time to work his way into form this season.
He wasn’t alone, as he and other Newcastle United teammates had an up and down time in the early stages of this 2024/25 campaign.
Not the greatest surprise really in the case of Bruno Guimaraes, he played more minutes of football last season for club and country last season, ahead of any other NUFC player.
Plenty more football last summer with Brazil, which then meant minimal pre-season with the Newcastle United squad.
However, the effort was always there this season and the form quickly came, once he got into the groove.
In the 2023/24 season, Bruno Guimaraes managed seven goals and nine assists in all competitions.
Whilst so far in 2024/25, Bruno Guimaraes has two goals and seven assists.
In recent times, with Sandro Tonali sitting deeper that has allowed the United Captain to play further up the pitch, his attacking influence getting ever greater.
Summed up by the matches this calendar year so far.
An assist for Gordon’s equaliser against Spurs.
An assist for Osula’s first ever NUFC goal, against Bromley.
An assist for Isak’s second against Wolves.
Scoring United’s only goal against Bournemouth.
However, countless other occasions where he is so influential in team moves and goals, but doesn’t necessarily get marked down as providing an assist or goal.
Saturday a prime example, an outstanding threaded through ball to Alexander Isak, which saw the striker fouled to win the penalty at Southampton.
Talking of outstanding accurate threaded through balls…
