Buddy Matthews filed for a trademark shortly after his House of Black Brody King stablemate did as well.
Matthews filed to trademark “Hell Hounds” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 17th; the filing noted that the purpose was for advertising services and entertainment services, namely in wrestling. This came two days after Brody King filed to trademark “Hounds of Hell”.
Buddy Matthews and Brody King are seemingly heading in a new direction in AEW. They had been paired up with Malakai Black, who is reportedly finishing up with the company. On AEW programming, Will Ospreay told Matthews that he did not need a leader to succeed. Likewise, Cope encouraged Brody King to take over the House of Black.
Matthews and King will face the Gates of Agony at AEW Collision: Homecoming on January 25th.
Buddy Matthews On Rumored WWE Return
Matthews recently responded to speculation that he could return to WWE someday. Speaking on Wrestle Radio Australia, he stated that the rumors didn’t affect him.
“The ideas of listening to people talk contracts and you can speculate, but when you’re putting it on a forum to try and generate either a negative, because you’re trying to generate a negative reaction regardless, because it’s not ever put in a positive way,” he said. “You’re just trying to get people on your side. So, it doesn’t affect me because I don’t even look at it. The performance doesn’t affect that because I have a job that needs to be done.
“So, the speculation is fine, but it doesn’t affect me. I guess it’s a long thing. But, yeah, I need to get that thing out that what people say and how they determine it and what they want to put out, that doesn’t, like, it’s in one area. It’s look and move past. I feel like a lot of people on Twitter think that they have enough power and they’re trying to generate a reaction. But to be fair, no one’s giving a shit.” [H/T: Fightful]
