Even as speculations swirl around his continuity at FC Barcelona, Xavi remains confident that he will remain as manager for next season.
Over the past few days, reports have claimed that Xavi will be relieved of his duties once the season is over as Barcelona president Joan Laporta was upset by some of his comments about the club’s situation.
It has been suggested that a meeting will soon take place between the manager and the club following which the decision will be made.
Despite the incessant speculations, Xavi was upbeat about his situation during the press conference on Saturday, stating that nothing had changed as far as his future was concerned.
Now, ahead of tonight’s clash against Rayo Vallecano, Xavi once again reiterated that he believes he will remain in charge next season and is looking forward to it.
“I feel good now, I sleep very well. This season things didn’t work as we wanted but I’m ready, I can’t wait to start next season,” said Xavi, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Xavi had announced his decision to leave Barcelona in January, but the club, including Laporta, convinced him to stay on for another year until his contract expires in 2025.
However, the 44-year-old legend’s statements about the club’s finances and his handling of the Vitor Roque situation have seemingly angered Laporta, leading to the rumours of an exit.
As mentioned earlier, a meeting will take place between the manager and the Barça president soon, following which a clearer picture of the situation should emerge.
