Chelsea will take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final next weekend as the competition reaches its climax.

The two teams, who faced off in the 2022 final, will again battle it out for English football's first major trophy of the season.

Chelsea came from 1-0 down in the first leg of their semi-final to beat Middlesbrough 6-2 on aggregate thanks to a rampant performance.

Liverpool then battled to a 1-1 draw away at Fulham to secure their spot with a 3-2 aggregate win.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool were the victor when these two sides met in the 2022 final.

Following a goalless draw, the Reds won on penalties as Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga missed the deciding spot kick.

The 2023/24 Carabao Cup final will be played on Sunday, February 25.

It will be held at Wembley Stadium and will kick-off at 3pm.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino: "It is really important to make the final. Sometimes we can think about the history of Chelsea, we are young and we need to grow.

"These types of games are a good experience for young players and it is about now growing and it will help us to compete. We are building a very good team. The mentality is good. We have plenty but we need time.

"I think we are very happy. People need to believe and trust in us and we go to the final with the chance of winning the first trophy of the season."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "It is fantastic. We had the experience before, we know what to expect. Again Chelsea wow what a story that is,.

"You should never take for granted if you are part of the team who can qualify for trophies.

“You should have seen the dressing room at full-time, they are over the moon the young kids.

"The stadium will be full blue and red, it is a good one.

"Going through is special - you can never take these things for granted."
