Chelsea have reportedly made Enzo Maresca their main target, with the Blues close to completing a deal with the current Leicester City manager.

Chelsea leaders are looking for a new coach after cutting ties with Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues are interested in younger tacticians, particularly those who have just been promoted to the Championship.

Discussions have been held with Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, but he is no longer in the running. Brentford’s Thomas Frank is another option Chelsea are said to be willing to consider, with the Dane potentially lured to west London.

Maresca targeted by Chelsea

The Telegraph reports, however, that Maresca has jumped ahead in the queue. The Italian, who was previously Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, led Leicester to the second division title in 2023-24.

Chelsea have reportedly formally requested permission to approach Maresca, after being impressed by early talks, and a deal could soon be reached for the 44-year-old to take on the challenge of meeting the expectations of the Bridge’s spending owners a lot of money…
