The intense rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre is set to reach new heights at WWE’s upcoming Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin, where they will face off in a brutal Strap match. On the August 26 edition of Monday Night RAW, McIntyre took the opportunity to address the upcoming showdown, turning his promo into yet another personal attack on Punk.
McIntyre mockingly imitated Punk’s iconic entrance and signature seated position in the ring. He vowed to unleash his fury during the match, confidently predicting that Punk’s choice of a Strap match would ultimately backfire. McIntyre then made pointed remarks about Punk’s family and his cherished bracelet to further provoke his opponent.
Unbeknownst to McIntyre, CM Punk was watching the entire segment live from underneath the ring on Instagram. Enraged by McIntyre’s words, Punk stormed the ring while still broadcasting live, attacking McIntyre with a strap.
The assault was so fierce that even security personnel attempting to intervene were not spared, as CM Punk beat them down viciously as well with the strap. This led to RAW General Manager Adam Pearce to announce via his X that he has fined CM Punk for his actions for an undisclosed amount.
“CM Punk has been fined an undisclosed amount for assaulting security with the leather strap that will be used in his Strap Match against Drew McIntyre at #WWEBash.”
While McIntyre managed to escape the beatdown this time and Punk has been fined, the upcoming Strap match at WWE Bash in Berlin promises to be anything but forgiving as both men would look to cause immense pain to each other under the stipulated match.
