CM Punk shocked the world back in 2014 when he walked out of the company. Ten years later, he stunned the WWE Universe by making a return to the company at Survivor Series in 2023.

Recently, while speaking to Caroline Pearce of TNT Sports, The Best in the World revealed why he chose to return to WWE.

“I answered this question earlier tonight. I think it’s just time. Timing is everything you know. I wrestled for a very long time before I signed a WWE contract. And I was on the road for 10 years. Zero time off,” Punk explained. “That takes its toll.

“I think one of the things that I never did before was try to balance everything out,” he added. “And I think a lot of fighters, a lot of wrestlers do that. Balance is kind of key. But when you are young and you want to go and you have to take every opportunity that comes your way.”

CM Punk burnt out a decade ago

During the same interview, CM Punk mentioned that he was completely burnt out back in 2014 after working non-stop for 10 years. Thus, he chose to leave. Now he is back and is super happy.

“You can’t say no. And then after a while you burn out. So I burnt out ten years ago. I left, I did some other things, I got to do a lot of cool other stuff, and then you know… Time heals all wounds. You slowly start to realize it like a lot of the stuff that happened ten years ago doesn’t matter. Different people come and go. Different people are in charge now. Maybe I can go back and you know… It kind of feels like an old slipper and it’s good to be back. I’m super happy it happened. The way I came back and how big it’s been, never could have been what it was without all the other crap right? So, that’s just life. I woke up this morning. So it’s a good day,” CM Punk said.
