Cody Rhodes makes a great comparison regarding The Rock‘s latest character on WWE programming.
The American Night was a guest this week on ESPN’s First Take. When asked about what the return of The Rock has done for WWE on the road to WrestleMania XL, Rhodes compares this new version of The Rock we’re seeing to that of Hollywood Hulk Hogan.
“I think it’s different than everyone anticipated,” Cody Rhodes admitted. “The Rock is a Mount Rushmore pro wrestler, sports entertainer. I feel like if you ask anybody who’s your Mount Rushmore, The Rock is on it. However, he came back, thinking I’ll just step into the main event with Roman Reigns, me and my cousin and do this family thing, and I was so blessed that the fans did not want that.
“They wanted me to finish the story WrestleMania 40 kicking back from Wrestlemania 39. Because of that, the byproduct is the Final Boss Rock. And the Final Boss, the only comparison I can make in terms of just watching him from the outside looking in feels very Hollywood Hulk Hogan. It’s a whole other layer.
“I don’t want to say all kinds of positive things about The Rock, but I can tell you that’s the staying power. Like you turn this and made this into something incredibly different and unique and very special.”
