At WWE WrestleMania 40 Sunday, Cody Rhodes won the biggest bout of his career by dethroning Roman Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Champion. The Rock tried to intervene in the bout but he was quickly taken out by The Undertaker. It was made very clear in the subsequent RAW that The Rock and Rhodes are far from over and Rhodes has now expressed his desire to have closure against The Rock.
The last time fans saw The Rock was during a previous episode of RAW, where he had a promo segment with Cody Rhodes, where The Rock sent an ominous message to The American Nightmare. The Rock also vowed that he would pursue Cody Rhodes for the rest of his life.
While speaking on Spaces, The American Nightmare was asked about future potential opponents. Cody Rhodes made it very clear that he wants to have closure against The Rock and the only way that will happen is with a match.
“I don’t want to just leave it out there. I didn’t get any closure on the situation with The Rock, particularly with him giving me something back. That was something he should have kept and I feel that closure in wrestling. That’s one of the beautiful things about sports, entertainment, wrestling, and WWE. If you think that closure is going to happen, stay tuned. It might, but it might happen in a very different way. “
“So I look forward to his return. I look forward to Gunther and I look forward to everybody who challenges us as we move forward, I had an impromptu match and Carmelo Hayes just the other day. I look forward to every challenge that comes amazing.”
The Rock is expected to wrestle another match in 2024 before WrestleMania 41 as well. With that said, The Rock has made headlines today as he tried to manipulate rehearsal times for WrestleMania 40 after arriving late. He even tried to claim credit for Drew McIntyre re-signing with WWE, which led to lot of feathers being ruffled backstage. Regardless, we’ll have to see when The Great One and Cody Rhodes will battle it out one day.
