Darby Allin was incredibly nervous about being part of Sting‘s last match.

The duo teamed together one last time at AEW Revolution 2024. They defended their AEW Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in an incredible final outing for Sting.

Sting and Darby Allin walked out as winners, much to Darby’s delight.

Darby Allin joined Q1057 and 1035’s Mike Karolyi to speak about being a part of Sting’s last match. He admitted he was nervous throughout the day about wanting to honor The Icon’s career in the best way he could.

He was relieved after the match when Sting told him it was one of his top three favorite matches ever. However, Darby Allin had to go to the hospital after being sliced by glass during the bout.

Darby Allin on Sting’s last match

“I don’t know, it’s crazy because I knew going into it, it was like—you only get one shot at doing this, you know? Sting is a guy that, when he says he’s done, he’s done. He’s not going to come out of retirement; when he says, ‘All right, I’m done,’ he means it.

“So that day, I was laser-focused on making sure that his career ended with the respect it deserved. I was so nervous throughout the whole day, but the moment the match ended, and I knew we hit a home run—it was definitely the best feeling I’ve had in my career.

“He came up to me after the match and said, ‘Easily top three favorite matches of my whole career.’ I thought, ‘Yep, that’s all I wanted to hear at the end of the night.’ I had a huge hole in my side because I jumped through glass and got sliced open. I was just like, ‘I’m alive, things are good—let’s go to the hospital!'”
