The Houston Dash, already in a spot of coaching limbo, are now in the market for a general manager. Last Thursday, in a tersely worded, two-sentence release, the club parted ways with Alex Singer, who had held the post since August 2022. The decision comes while first-year head coach Fran Alonso is on an indefinite leave of absence and has not been around the team for more than a month.

At the Olympic break, the Dash sit in 12th place and are staring at a 10th straight regular season without winning a playoff game.

“It’s been a two-year period where she’s been here and led us through a lot of transition, some that she inherited and some that came up during her leadership” Jessica O’Neill, Dash president of business operations, told The Equalizer about Singer.  “But we have not been meeting expectations. We don’t take any decisions lightly but realized that it was necessary for us to make a change, ultimately in the highest position on the soccer operations side and have somebody new lead the group and hopefully have different results.”
