Former IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay could be a free agent soon, but it doesn’t look like he’ll ultimately leave New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
It is well known that one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest shows of the year always kicks off the new year. That show is the Wrestle Kingdom pay-per-view. The Japanese Wrestling promotion always signs new or renews contracts following the grand pay-per-view. One such contract that was signed a few years ago was that of David Finlay. Now, according to a new report from Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, Finlay’s NJPW contract is soon to come to an end. The report also states that New Japan Pro Wrestling is expecting Finlay to re-sign with the company.
“Another top NJPW name has his contract coming up soon. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that current IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay is among the huge number of contracts in New Japan Pro Wrestling that are set to be up soon. Finlay has worked as a top talent in the company.
“NJPW sources say that they expect Finlay to remain with the company and that New Japan has expressed interest in retaining him. Finlay has been the leader of the War Dogs for over the last year,” Fightful Select posted.
