The Emmy Awards for daytime, news and documentary programming are moving around the calendar.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is moving the News & Documentary Emmy Awards from September to June, while the Daytime Emmys are moving from June to October.
“For nearly half a century, the News & Documentary Emmys have honored the best in broadcast journalism and documentary programming,” said NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp. “Moving the ceremony earlier in the Emmy schedule shines a brighter light on the timely nature of the incredible content being recognized.”
This means 46th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards will have an adjusted timeline. Entries open on January 9, regular deadline is January 24, final entry deadline is February 7, the judging window is now March 3 – April 13 and the nominations will be announced the week beginning April 28 before the event in June.
The eligibility window remains the same; all content originally broadcast in calendar 2024 is allowed.
This comes after the 45th Annual News & Documentary Emmys were celebrated on September 25 and September 26, 2024 with lifetime achievement honors given to the likes of Jane Pauley and Alex Gibney.
As a result, the 52nd Daytime and Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held in October.
The 51st awards were held in June 2024 with Netflix’s African Queens: Njinga and Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones scoring three wins each.
