Broja move done

Armando Broja's loan move from Chelsea to Fulham is done, talkSPORT understands.

The centre-forward has completed a medical at Craven Cottage to add much-needed firepower to Marco Silva's front-line.

Broja has struggled for form since suffering a serious knee injury in late 2022 which ruled him out of the rest of the season.

Since returning to fitness, he has been used sparingly by Mauricio Pochettino.

Akpom move off

Nottingham Forest's proposed move for Ajax star Chuba Akpom is now off, talkSPORT understands.

The Tricky Trees wanted to bring Akpom back to England on a deal with an option to buy if they avoided relegation this season.

However, that stipulation proved a stumbling block, with Ajax not agreeing due to Forest's precarious situation in the Premier League.

Luc at that!

Tottenham have beaten Barcelona in the race to sign Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall in a major coup for Spurs, talkSPORT understands.

Tottenham's pursuit, led by Danish technical director Johan Lange, convinced the 17-year-old to snub Barca.

Bergvall is expected to fly to London on Friday - his 18th birthday - ahead of putting pen to paper over a five-year contract.

The teenager will then return to parent club Djurgarden for the rest of this season before officially completing an £8.5million move on July 1.

Lin-Gard of honour

Jesse Lingard is reportedly closing in on completing a shock move to South Korean side FC Seoul.

Sky Sports claim that the former Manchester United star has verbally agreed a two-year deal with the option of a further year to revitalise his career in Asia.

The report adds that Lingard - who has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season - is due to fly out and complete the deal in the coming days.

Lingard had offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey but was said to be the most intrigued by the offer in South Korea.

Hol the phone

Sheffield United have officially announced that Everton defender Mason Holgate has joined on loan for the rest of the season.

The 27-year-old was in the midst of a season-long loan to Southampton that was mutually terminated for him to join the Blades.

Holgate told the club's website: "I'm delighted to be here and to finally get it over the line.

"I've been waiting all month to get it sorted, obviously involving three teams, it is a little complicated but now we've got it to this point, I cannot wait to get going.

"I feel good, sharp and ready to go. This is the best league in the world that's why everyone aspires to play in it, I've played in it a bit now and hopefully, I can come in and help the boys.

"Chris (Wilder) has faith and believes in me, he has told me what he thinks I can add to the team and I think I can do that so it makes sense to make this happen."

Alex Crook update

Some deals to tell you about from talkSPORT's chief football correspondent from Wolves.

Gary O'Neil's side are set to allow Joe Hodge to join Championship strugglers Queens Park Rangers on loan for the rest of the season.

Wolves are also selling Theo Corbeanu to Spanish side Granada for around £750,000.

Brighton poach Sunderland starlet

Brighton have signed young midfielder Josh Robertson for an undisclosed fee from Sunderland.

The 18-year-old has joined the Seagulls on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Brighton's under-21s head coach Shannon Ruth said, "We're delighted to welcome Josh to the club and are looking forward to working with him.

"He's had a really good education with Sunderland, which was rewarded with his Premier League 2 debut earlier this season.

"He's demonstrated his ability to play in a variety of attacking roles, while also showing his goalscoring threat. We believe he will fit in well with our style of play which will also allow him to show his strengths.

“He will join our under-21 squad and we are excited to see how he progresses in our environment."

Billy the Kid!

Blackburn Rovers have completed a loan deal for Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio from Liverpool for the rest of the season.

Rovers’ Director of Football Gregg Broughton said: “With Hayden Carter’s injury, we wanted to ensure that we could add pace and physicality to the team, and Billy brings both of those attributes to us.

“This is his third senior loan spell, so this isn’t a player who’s just coming out of Under-21s football, and I think the fans will be really, really excited to see him play.”

Not heading for the Gil

Bryan Gil has turned down a move to Brighton, talkSPORT understands.

The Seagulls had wanted to sign the 22-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season, but he will now stay at Tottenham.

There is unlikely to be any more incomings or outgoings now for Ange Postecoglou's side before tonight's deadline.

Fox out of the box

The Italian winder has already slammed shut but Leicester are still desperate to prize Stefano Sensi away from Inter Milan.

Sky in Italy are reporting that the deal has hit a snag regarding the Championship leaders' Financial Fair Play parameters.

Sensi’s agent Beppe Riso was asked about the deal earlier this evening by Sportitalia and replied: “We still have to wait some more.”

Man City youngster joins Cardiff

Manchester City youngster Josh Wilson-Esbrand has joined Championship side Cardiff on loan for the remainder of the season.

He told Cardiff City TV: “I’m very privileged to be here. I’m happy to get to know the boys and help the team.

“I’m just looking forward to going out there and trying to push this team as far as we can get.

“For me, I just want to be as efficient as I can in the final third. I want to play as often as I can, rack up the minutes, rack up the games and as a team, just push as far as possible.”

Ak to the drawing board

Nottingham Forest are NOT hopeful of completing a deal to sign Chuba Akpom, talkSPORT understands.

The Tricky Trees were in talks with Ajax over a deadline-day move for the former Arsenal starlet.

Akpom only arrived in the Netherlands last summer from Middlesbrough.

Phil yer boots

West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips had the worst possible start to his career at the London Stadium as he gifted Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke an early goal.

The 28-year-old - making his Hammers debut since joining on loan from Manchester City - was at fault for his new side falling behind after being put under early pressure following a loose pass by Kurt Zouma.

Kent be serious

Ryan Kent's proposed move to Lazio has collapsed.

Sky Sports Italy report that the former Rangers and Liverpool winger has chosen to stay in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

The 27-year-old had looked prime to revitalise his career in Serie A after the two clubs had agreed a loan deal with an option to buy.

Traore to leave Villa

Bertrand Traore is reportedly set to terminate his contract at Aston Villa.

Sky Sports claim Traore is bidding to complete a move to Villarreal, having managed just two Premier League outings this term.

Villa signed the winger for £17m from Lyon in 2020 but he has consistently failed to establish himself in the club's first-team.

Championship promotion hopefuls Ipswich have confirmed the arrival of Kieffer Moore!

The Welsh forward has dropped down a division from Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season.

"It’s great to finally get it over the line because it’s been a long time coming during the window,” Kieffer told TownTV.

“I remember my first spell here and I’ve gone away and worked very hard on myself during that time, so I’m delighted to be back and can’t wait to get going.

“I was really excited when I spoke to everyone here and now I just want to meet the group, get out on the pitch and contribute.”

The France U21 defender told the club's website: “I feel very good, I’m really happy and ever since I first heard about the move I wanted to move here.

“I have followed the Premier League since being a young child and had only pictured myself ever being here, so I am really excited.

Ak of the net

Nottingham Forest are attempting to ensure Chuba Akpom completes a swift return to English football, talkSPORT understands.

The former Arsenal starlet only joined Ajax last summer in a £10.5million deal from Middlesbrough.

The 28-year-old has scored nine goals in 20 appearances but has had to make do with a bit-part role for the struggling Dutch giants.

Villa signing heads to Plymouth

Plymouth have announced that Lino Sousa has joined on loan immediately after leaving Arsenal for Aston Villa.

The England U19 left-back will be plying his trade at Home Park in the Championship until the end of the season.

Speaking to the club's website, Plymouth head coach Ian Foster said: “Lino is somebody that I've known for a while. I've always been excited by his performances at Arsenal and with the England development teams.

“He's a really exciting player with huge potential and I think you can see why the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa have taken him.

“He'll come in, in competition on the left-hand side of the pitch. He's got a lovely left foot; he's athletic; he can handle the ball in tight areas; he can defend in 1v1 situations and he's good in the final phase as well.”

🖊️ Lino Sousa has signed for Aston Villa, from Arsenal, and has immediately joined Argyle on loan for the rest of the season.

Won the Whar

Crystal Palace have announced the long-term signing of Championship starlet Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers.

The Eagles beat out competition from a series of other Premier League sides to agree a £22million deal for the 19-year-old.

He told the club's website: "I've always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour.

"The way they've brought players from the Championship and developed them into world-class players in the Premier League is something that stood out to me, and it's a big reason why I wanted to come here."

Enes Unal joins Bournemouth

Getafe striker Enes Unal has completed his loan move to Bournemouth, talkSPORT understands.

An official announcement on the deal is expected later this evening with the relevant paperwork having been signed on both sides.

The Turkish striker joins on an initial loan until June with the option of a £14million permanent move in the summer.

Caice closed

Ally McCoist has named Moises Caicedo as his transfer flop of the season, pipping a Manchester United star to the unwanted title.

Responding to a suggestion that United goalkeeper Andre Onana is the flop of the season, McCoist said: "He’s nothing like the signing everybody thought he would be but I’m not giving him flop of the season so far.

“I think that’s just ever-so-slightly harsh..”

Discussing Caicedo, the Scottish football legend said: "I’ve got to say, I saw him a couple of times, particularly at Old Trafford him and Enzo Fernandez – both of them, to be honest with you – a quarter of a billion pounds…

“Caicedo would certainly get my vote before Onana, to be honest with you."

Broja continued

Here's more Armando Broja's imminent move to Fulham... which includes rather bizarre terms.

It is believed the loan fee rising to £4m includes a clause that means the club will be penalised if Broja is fit an available for selection and doesn't play a set number of games during his spell at Craven Cottage.

That's very unlikely to happen, though, given Raul Jimenez has been ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

Wolves and Aston Villa were also interested in the 22-year-old Albania international, but the Cottagers have won the race to add much-needed firepower to Marco Silva's front-line.

Broja u-turn

Finally some movement on what has otherwise been a quiet deadline day - and finally some good news for Fulham!

Fulham are closing in on the signing of Armando Broja, who is now set for a medical with the club, talkSPORT understands.

It comes after a u-turn from Chelsea over the terms of a possible loan, reducing their demands from a £5million loan fee to a nominal figure instead.

The deal could be worth up to £4m if certain criteria are met, but it's enough of a reduction to allow Fulham to progress in their talks for the 22-year-old striker.

Chelsea were initially asking for £50m for Broja in either a permanent transfer or loan with obligation to buy, but then reduced their demands to a loan with an option to buy, then this morning it became a straight loan with a £5m fee.

But we understand Chelsea have now further reduced that loan fee to make this move happen, and Fulham are now set to sign the forward player they were craving on deadline day.

A major relief at Craven Cottage.

Can't catch a break

It's really not a good day for Fulham, with manager Marco Silva confirming he will be without Raul Jimenez for several weeks.

The Mexican striker limped out of Tuesday's draw against Everton with a hamstring injury and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.

It makes the club's search for a new attacker even more crucial, but time is running out after seeing bids for four separate players all turned down on deadline day.

Financial Fair Play rules have hampered Fulham's search for a replacement for last season's top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, and the loss of Jimenez will further stretch Silva's resources.

"It's too early now to say how many weeks it can be," said Silva. "But it's not something that is going to be quick.

"Last summer, even with Raul in our squad, we sold a striker for a big amount of money. We were not able to replace him last summer. Until now we've been not able to sign another one. That's the reality.

"It's not just that Raul is now injured that's important to sign a striker. It was important last summer and it was important from the beginning of the window.

"When I said that I expect a really quiet window, I was speaking about the feedback that I got from the club, if we had the funds or not to spend. It was something that was not possible from the club.

"One thing is what we needed, then there's what's possible for us to do. Sometimes those things cannot be together, and it was the case for us.

"Of course we are looking to reinforce some positions in our attacking line, not just one position. They were the targets for us from when we started to plan the window, till now. Both positions were not possible."
