Duran looks an exciting young talent and many Chelsea fans would surely welcome this signing, but if there are other alternatives being considered then perhaps that means they have something even bigger up their sleeve this summer.
Duran transfer: Could Chelsea do better than the Villa youngster?
Duran may have big potential, but at the same time there’s perhaps a case for Chelsea looking to bring in someone more experienced to complement the rest of this rather youthful squad.
Jhon Duran to Chelsea transfer decision should come soonNicolas Jackson is a similar young forward who could have a big future, and the arrival of Duran would surely only block his development, which seems like poor planning and decision-making after a full season of the Senegal international playing regularly and developing well, particularly towards the end of the campaign.
CFC might do better to bring in an older player for Jackson to learn from and rotate with, who would not stand in his way in the long term, but simply take the pressure off him a bit more in the short term.

Still, Chelsea may live to regret it if they miss out on Duran now and he goes on to become an even better player than Jackson, and either ends up costing a lot more money in the future, or ends up moving to one of their bitter rivals.
