Did Luis Enrique really keep his promise?

Has the Ile-de-France team really progressed over the last two months?

In mid-December 2023, after the draw (1-1) between Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Luis Enrique promised that his team would be better in February. The deadline has arrived. Is the Spanish technician really right?

Luis Fernandez answers in the affirmative. “I like the place he found in Mbappé. In Luis Enrique’s system, the side players are very important in the replacement. By installing Kylian in the center, he gives him total freedom in the folds. And Kylian shows a new face, notably with calls behind the defense which hurt a lot. For me, Kylian will be stronger and more effective in this role. I am 200% convinced by this new tactical arrangement”told the Parisian the one who was the coach of the capital club twice.

“Parisians receive gifts”

Alain Giresse is clearly more nuanced than his former teammate in the magic square. “If we rely on the ranking, yes, it’s better. But the services remain sluggish. Paris imposes itself without ever dominating head and shoulders. He was certainly better than Lille but he scored on individual errors. Same in Strasbourg (1-2) with the blunder of the Alsatian goalkeeper. Parisians receive gifts. Their success is not caused but given. I don’t have any reference match in mind”underlines the former midfielder, who was furtively the coach of PSG at the start of the 1998-1999 season.

Wednesday evening, at 9 p.m., PSG will host Real Sociedad in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. This will undoubtedly be the most important match for the Rouge et Bleu since the start of the season.
