It was quite the ride to get there and now we know something else about the match.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s Why: Very Interesting Detail On AEW All In Main Event, Why It Went How It Did
One of the plot twists on the way to WrestleMania 40 saw Rhodes, the Royal Rumble winner, step aside so that the Rock could have the title shot instead, only to change his mind later. Rhodes was recently a guest on the Pivot Podcast where he was asked about being willing to step aside for the Rock to challenge Roman Reigns instead.
Rhodes said that the issue was anyone believing that he would be ok with just letting the Rock come in and take the spot. He went on to say that anyone who believed he would be ok with the change did not know him, citing the main event of WrestleMania as the “Super Bowl of what we do.” Rock vs. Rhodes has been rumored for WrestleMania 41 but not yet confirmed.
They had a history. Check out Rock and Rhodes’ history:
Opinion: It makes sense that Rhodes would not be happy with the change and thankfully WWE made a big adjustment after going with a story that did not seem to be the most popular. What matters is getting the biggest and most interesting feud possible for WrestleMania’s main event and that is what they did, with Rhodes being the centerpiece that a lot of people were wanting to see.
