Joy Reid‘s exit from MSNBC triggered many conservative commentators to take cheap shots at her on social media.
Over the years, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly has criticized some of Reid’s comments on her cable news show. After chatter that the news network was making changes and axing Reid, Kelly took to social media to celebrate.
“Remember when Joy Reid laughingly mocked ‘white women tears’ as pathetic and offensive to her? Who’s crying now, Joy? Good riddance to the absolute worst person on television, and shame on NBC for letting it go on this long,” read Kelly’s post on X.
Kelly echoed her words about the former Reid Out host, quoting a video of Reid breaking down in an interview after her last show on MSNBC.
“Joy Reid has viciously mocked the tears of every white person she’s helped cancel over the years for some imaginary racial slight,” Kelly posted on X. “She’s had zero empathy for anyone. Now she wants us to feel sorry for her. WE DON’T.”
Don Lemon fired back at Kelly on his YouTube show, calling out the former NBC Today show host.
“No, Megyn Kelly, the worst person on television was fired from NBC and the Today show a few years ago, and that’s Megyn Kelly,” Lemon said. “The worst person who is not on television anymore is you.”
Lemon was referring to Kelly being cut from NBC after she defended the use of blackface in Halloween costumes in 2018.
“Girl bye… Look who’s crying now, what she said to Joy Reid, look who’s crying then with the crocodile tears,” Lemon said. “Had she learned from that, she wouldn’t spend almost every day being a racist, proving the point that she was crying about and that people called her then, because then I would say, ‘You know what, she learned!’ I was actually friendly with Megyn Kelly, and then when people show you who they are, you better f***ing believe it.”
Lemon ended his rant about Kelly saying, “So let me just say to Megyn Kelly, in my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color: Go f*** yourself!”
Keith Olbermann “seconded” Lemon’s take on Kelly, posting on X, “Megyn Kelly? Go f*** yourself.”
Another Republican pundit who celebrated Reid losing her job at MSNBC was former The View co-host Meghan McCain, who took to X to write, “The idea that she has ever been anything other than hateful and horrible is just garbage. Good riddance.”
