After a slow beginning to life at Manchester United in 2023/2024, Rasmus Hojlund has seen his start to the new season delayed after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Dane rounded off last term with 16 goals to his name in all competitions. He notoriously was made to wait 14 matches before he opened his Premier League account with an emphatic winner against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
Hojlund, as expected, was called up to represent Denmark at Euro 2024 but failed to make his mark on the tournament, departing in the last-16 with zero goals or assists in four games played.
Such frustrating form would’ve made him adamant about starting the season with a bang – firstly against Manchester City in the Community Shield and then next Friday’s league opener at home to Fulham.

However, Manchester Evening News understands that the 21-year-old will not return to action until after the September international break. The final match before domestic action halts is against Liverpool at Old Trafford, and, after the two-week pause, United travel to face newly-promoted Southampton.
He took to Instagram after confirmation of his layoff with a snap of himself inside a cryo chamber, a form of treatment to reduce muscle inflammation using subzero temperatures, captioned: “Don’t worry. In Scandinavia, we call this summer.”
