Donald Trump Confirms He Was Shot at Pennsylvania Rally, Issues Statement on Situation

Donald Trump issued a formal statement on the shooting that occurred at his Pennsylvania rally on Saturday (July 13).

While speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania, shots erupted in the venue. The 78-year-old former president was rushed offstage by his security but was visibly bleeding.

The shooting is being investigated as an assassination attempt.

The alleged shooter was pronounced dead, and at least one other person passed away with another seriously injured.

Donald confirmed that he was also shot in his first formal statement.

He issued his statement on his social media platform Truth Social, expressing gratitude for his security detail who saved him and sorrow for those who were injured.

“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” he wrote. “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.”

Donald continued, writing, “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country.”

“Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” he said. “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”

He signed off with “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

President Joe Biden also issued a statement on the matter. One of his posts on social media from hours before the shooting is also going viral.
