A Nigerian soldier named Adie Paul has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to award Super Eagles players with houses, plots of land, and national honors following their second-place finish in the recent African Cup of Nations.

He expressed his frustration on social media, highlighting the lack of recognition for soldiers serving in conflict zones.

Paul, who sustained a bullet injury while serving in the North East, shared his discontent on X in response to a tweet by user drpenking. The tweet pointed out that even players like Ahmed Musa, who did not play much in the tournament, received significant rewards.

In his post, the soldier shared a picture and stated, “Yet, as a soldier, I stayed in the North East fighting Boko Haram for four years plus, I was shot and I am still carrying the bullet in me till date, not even a medal from the Army/Nigeria government.”

Meanwhile, President Tinubu had conferred the national honor of Member of the Order of the Niger on every member of the Super Eagles team that won the silver medal at AFCON.
