Drew Gulak turned the real-life allegations against him into a pro-wrestling promo.
Drew Gulak was called out for inappropriate behavior by Ronda Rousey in April. According to Rousey, Gulak grabbed the string on her sweatpants backstage at a WWE event. Gulak later claimed that he accidentally grabbed Rousey’s clothes while reaching for a handshake, and said he had apologized.
It was later reported that Gulak was released by WWE that month. However, Triple H clarified that WWE elected not to renew his contract. Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that Gulak’s response to Rousey’s allegation made things worse for him, but it wasn’t a determining factor in choosing to not re-sign him.
Since leaving WWE, Gulak has been working almost exclusively with Beyond Wrestling. The promotion uploaded Gulak’s post-match promo from his most recent match over the weekend against Masha Slamovich. Gulak began by saying Masha reminded him of Kimber Lee, who was one of his former students. Gulak said he feels like he let Kimber Lee down because her “demons” got the best of her and she quit wrestling. However, Masha can make her own path.
Masha thanked him for his praise, and she said her limits and future are boundless. Drew then took the mic back and for some reason, decided to ask Masha if he ever made her at “anytime ever, in the business, that we’ve been here together in Beyond Wrestling, did I ever, in any way, make you feel uncomfortable?” Masha said, “No.”
“At any time did you feel like I was a danger in the locker room?” he replied. Masha said, “No” again. Of course, because everything has to be an angle in pro wrestling, Gulak said, ‘Well you should have’ and attacked her.
