John Cena kicked off his farewell tour on Monday’s WWE Raw, announcing his entry into the Royal Rumble and setting his sights on the WWE Championship. While fans are hyped to see Cena in the iconic match, Drew McIntyre has a stern warning for the 16-time world champion—stay out of his way.
Speaking on the Babyfaces Podcast, McIntyre didn’t hold back when asked about Cena’s Royal Rumble plans. “Good luck,” McIntyre said. “I want time on the microphone with him, and I want that one-on-one match, and I’m going to make it happen, one way or another. Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up in the ring with me in the Rumble because the last person who got in my way at the Rumble last year and was aiming to main event WrestleMania was CM Punk, and I tore his tricep off the bone. I’ll maybe ask Cena to pick the muscle or pick the bone because I’m tearing it or breaking it.”
While McIntyre hasn’t officially declared for the Royal Rumble, his fiery comments suggest he’s ready to throw down if the opportunity arises. Cena’s quest for a storybook ending to his career may have just met its biggest obstacle in the form of the Scottish Warrior.
McIntyre’s night didn’t end well on Raw, as he took an unexpected loss to Jey Uso. In a bizarre twist, McIntyre blamed the defeat on a “contact high” after Travis Scott appeared at ringside smoking a joint alongside Uso. The unusual excuse added another layer of drama to McIntyre’s unpredictable Monday night.
As the road to the Royal Rumble heats up, Cena’s farewell tour and McIntyre’s ominous warning set the stage for what could be an explosive showdown. Whether or not McIntyre enters the Rumble, his message to Cena is crystal clear—proceed with caution.
