Cody Rhodes had been riding the wave of momentum ever since he came close to dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. Many thought that this year’s Show of Shows would finally be his crowning moment, however, a recent turn of events seemingly derailed those plans.

This week on SmackDown, what looked like the stage to make the most anticipated WrestleMania rematch of the year official turned into a fan backlash. Rhodes stepped aside to pave the way for The Rock’s return to confront his Bloodline and hint at their dream showdown at WrestleMania 40.

However, things turned worse for this iconic moment, as fans vented out their anger on seeing the veteran People’s champion taking the spot of the top star of today, Cody Rhodes.

The American Nightmare has received massive support from fans and peers alike including his own flesh and blood. Cody’s older brother and AEW star, Dustin Rhodes took to his X to show his own support for the 2024 Royal Rumble match.

Love you @CodyRhodes. You are a light for all of us!! #KeepSteppin.”

The Rock reportedly inserted himself into the WrestleMania plans to save the show after WWE lost major star power to injuries and recent allegations. However, with his return garnering completely opposite reactions, WWE should reconsider their decision and potentially insert Cody Rhodes back into the World title picture against Roman Reigns at the Showcase of the Immortals in Philidelphia this year.

Do you think Cody Rhodes will still face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40? Sound off in the comments!
