In a few hours, Barcelona will lock horns with Real Betis in La Liga, with the aim of closing the gap to the top of the table.

But they will have to battle against Manuel Pellegrini’s men without the services of key defender Andreas Christensen.

The 27-year-old was left out of the squad list that travelled to Seville for the match after he suffered a knock against Unionistas de Salamanca and did not train with the rest of the group on Saturday.

Christensen not injured, should return vs Athletic Club

However, Mundo Deportivo has brought up some good news about the situation of Christensen, claiming that the defender does not have any injury for Barcelona to be concerned about.

Christensen asked to be taken off at half-time against Unionistas earlier this week due to some discomfort. And since the 27-year-old was still feeling it yesterday, he did not do group training and the coaching staff decided it would be best not to push him.

As such, the defender, whose market value stands at €40 million, was omitted from the squad list for the Real Betis clash.

But Christensen has no injury to be a concern for the club and at the moment everything points at him being fit and available to face Athletic Club next week.

The Blaugrana take on the Basque outfit in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals at San Mames, and Christensen is expected to be back for that match, along with fellow defender Joao Cancelo, which would be a double boost for Xavi & co.
