Earthquake on world football! This new rule will change everything

According to information from the English media The Telegraph, a new rule will be introduced in football matches.

This is information that had the effect of a small bomb on the other side of the Channel this week. The media outlet The Telegraph focuses on the new prerogatives of the International Football Association Board (IFAB). This body, in charge of establishing the rules of the game, would like to incorporate a new rule in the very short term: the blue card.

The concept would be very simple: a footballer receiving a blue card would be temporarily excluded from the field. The scenarios giving rise to this very specific sanction would also be defined. The blue card would be distributed in the event of an anti-playing fault (or what we call “strategic faults”) or aggressive behavior towards the refereeing body.

A new rule that will revolutionize football?

Until then, football matches in official competitions vibrated to the rhythm of yellow cards (warnings) and red cards (expulsions). While the concept of an orange card has long been mentioned for the hypothesis of a temporary expulsion, the IFAB would ultimately opt for the blue color.

How long would a player be excluded? While the rule is not yet official, The Telegraph indicates that these temporary expulsions would last 10 minutes. Another important point: two blue cards, or a yellow card added to a blue card, would then result in a red card synonymous with expulsion. The first tests could take place in the next rounds of the FA Cup and the Women’s FA Cup, the English Cups in the men’s and women’s sections.
