The club revealed news of his departure to Nottingham Forest around midnight.
Now lifelong NUFC supporter Elliot Anderson has released his own emotional personal farewell statement to the Newcastle United fans.

Elliot Anderson releases personal statement to Newcastle United fans and the club – 1 July 2024:
“It’s been a dream come true to represent my club for 14 years.
“Pulling that black and white shirt on at St James’ Park is a moment that will never be taken away from me.
“I would like to thank everyone involved with the club and all the Geordies that have supported me throughout my journey.
“I will always support the club and wish nothing but the best for everyone involved.
“As one door closes another one opens.
“Thank you Newcastle United”

Elliot Anderson has been sold to Nottingham Forest.
A Newcastle United official announcement (see below) in the early hours of Monday morning revealing the news.
That announcement one of three in quick succession by the club, with Yankuba Minteh sold to Brighton, whilst Odysseas Vlachodimos has arrived from Nottingham Forest.
No mention of what the transfer fee was for Elliot Anderson, however, it was widely reported that a £35m fee had been agreed with Forest for the 21 year old who came through the ranks at St James’ Park.
As seems crystal clear, both Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh seemingly sold simply to ensure Newcastle United ended up on the right side of PSR with the latest accounting year ending on Sunday 30 June 2024.

‘Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson has completed a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old, who came through United’s Academy system, departs after making 55 senior appearances for his boyhood club, including 44 Premier League outings.
Born in Whitley Bay, Elliot first joined the Magpies’ youth setup aged eight. After becoming a regular in the club’s Under-21 side, he made his senior debut in January 2021, coming on as a substitute in an FA Cup match at Arsenal.
He moved on loan to Bristol Rovers for the second-half of the 2021-22 season and played a pivotal role in a successful promotion push before returning to Tyneside to rejoin the first-team squad.
Last season, he made 21 Premier League appearances, starting on ten occasions.
Everyone at Newcastle United thanks Elliot for his service to the club and extends their best wishes for the next chapter in his career.’
