Emma Stone Reveals Role She Was 'Devastated' Not to Get at Start of Her Career

Emma Stone opened up about a role in an iconic TV series that got away from her.

The 35-year-old actress is now a two-time Oscar winner. However, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Emma looked back on a part that she was “devastated” not to get after multiple callbacks.

Interestingly, the series would have united her with a current costar.

The project in question was Friday Night Lights, which starred Jesse Plemons, her Kinds of Kindness costar.

“When I was auditioning in L.A. when I was… I think I was 15 at this time … I got a couple callbacks for Friday Night Lights for Coach Taylor’s daughter,” Emma told Jimmy Fallon. “I was totally devastated that it didn’t work out.”

It’s not clear which daughter she was referring to. Coach Taylor’s elder daughter Julie was played by Aimee Teegarden. We were later introduced to his younger daughter Gracie, played by Madilyn Landry.

Emma added that “it would have been so crazy” to have worked with Jesse at the time. “But then we met 20 years later on This. And he’s going to be in the next movie, too.”

We just got new photos of Jesse and Emma at the Kinds of Kindness premiere last night!

FYI: Emma is wearing Brandon Maxwell.
