After being eliminated from CAN 2024 with Algeria, Islam Slimani terminated his contract with Brazilian club Coritiba.

A quick tour and then leaves… Arriving last August in Coritiba, Islam Slimani saw his contract terminated by the Brazilian team, relegated to the second division at the end of last season.

“Coritiba informs that athlete Islam Slimani is no longer part of the club’s professional team, due to the early termination of his employment contract”, we can read in the press release from the Auriverde club. The player was initially under contract until December 31, 2024.

Direction Belgium

According to information from journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the former Monaco and OL striker, aged 35, will be heading to Belgium, where he is expected to sign up for KV Mechelen.

Furthermore, the question of its future on the international scene arises. After Algeria’s new fiasco at CAN 2024, Islam Slimani could decide to turn the page. The identity of the future Fennecs coach could be a determining factor. As a reminder, the native of Algiers has 95 caps, for 43 goals scored.
