Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could quickly find himself back in management as he’s reportedly been sounded out for the AS Roma job.

After being sacked by Manchester United just over two weeks ago, Ten Hag has been linked with a return to employment, with Roma supposedly keen to snap him up now that he’s available, as per Corriere dello Sport.

Roma are believed to be considering several candidates to replace Daniele de Rossi, with Ivan Juric having also lost his job at the Stadio Olimpico.

After winning league titles in the Netherlands with Ajax, Ten Hag won two trophies in as many years at United – but he struggled to find consistency in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen where Ten Hag’s career with go from here, although we do not doubt our minds that he will get plenty of offers. There may be valid reasons that he under-achieved at Old Trafford and could do better elsewhere with a different structure in place.

Ten Hag was a victim of not being INEOS’ man from day one. It was suggested early on that they were seeking a change in management, but it doesn’t sound like they planned on deciding during the season.

INEOS have since hired Ruben Amorim as the new head coach.

The former Sporting CP manager will betasked with restoring glory in the Premier League. That is one of the biggest reasons why they decided to call time on Ten Hag.

Even though it didn’t work out for Ten Hag at United, he never threw the towel in like Jose Mourinho did towards the end of his time at the club. That shouldn’t be forgotten even though he wasn’t the right man for the job.

It’s a shame that it didn’t work out, but the focus now switches to Amorim.
