In a major development, El Chiringuito TV is reporting that Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has a pact with the club which would allow him to leave in the summer of 2025, for a fee of €175 million.
One of the best goalscorers on the planet currently, Haaland has scaled great heights over the past few years and has taken things a step further since arriving at Manchester City in 2022.
Naturally, superclubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid have always held an interest in the Norwegian international and had even tried to sign him in 2022 before he ended up at the Etihad Stadium.
Barça’s current financial situation would make a deal difficult, but earlier this week, the club’s sporting director, Deco, was spotted in a meeting with the striker’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta which lasted for three hours.
It has sparked rumours of a move, even though it would be difficult to pull off this summer.
But things could fall into place for the La Liga champions in 2025, as Haaland reportedly has an agreement to leave Manchester City next year, for a fee of €175 million.
Haaland’s contract with Pep Guardiola’s side runs until the summer of 2027 and as per previous reports, they have been trying to get him to sign a new deal to stave off suitors.
So, the news regarding the existence of a pact for him to leave next year does come off as a bit strange.
But, if such a possibility exists, one can expect Barcelona to throw their hat in the ring, given that Haaland has been a dream target for club president Joan Laporta.
