Eva Longoria Saved a Popular Film Franchise With a $6 Million Investment

We have Eva Longoria to thank for the John Wick film franchise.

Although the 49-year-old actress doesn’t appear in the movies, which star Keanu Reeves, she has a production credit on the first, which premiered in 2014.

During a recent interview, the movie’s directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch revealed that the project hit a major snag when a financing plan fell through less than a week before the movie was supposed to enter production. That paved the way for Eva to save the day.

“We were less than a week out, and we lost almost $6 million on a gap financing,” Chad told Business Insider. “We were financing independently to get the bond, but one of the investors couldn’t raise the money in time.”

Chad said that Eva “came to the rescue, and she provided the gap financing, literally less than 24 hours before we had to lock the doors on the movie and walk away.”

The directors didn’t learn that it was Eva who backed them until the movie was released. After they learned, they took the actress out for lunch.

“We were reminiscing. She was like, ‘Wow, that was the best money I’ve ever spent.’ It paid back significantly for her,” David recalled.

Find out how much Keanu was paid for each of the John Wick movies.
