He will now be playing in the South Korean top-flight by signing a reported two-year deal with FC Seoul.

Upon arrival, the 31-year-old claimed he rejected 'multiple offers' before deciding on a completely new challenge in Asia.

"I've always wanted a different challenge and to create new memories in my career," Lingard said in a YouTube video.

"I believe South Korea is the perfect place for that."

Reports have claimed the move to South Korea was motivated by Lingard's off-field interests - namely esports, fashion and restaurant businesses.

But the former England international quickly dismissed those theories.

He continued: "I'll focus on football, my personal business is nothing to do with football. The most important thing to me is football."

Lingard, who recently spent months training with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, argued FC Seoul's determination to sign him was a key factor.

"FC Seoul showed me great passion, sending me a concrete offer on paper while other clubs were contacting me verbally," Lingard added.

"They also came to Manchester to check my physical condition as well."
