During the company’s slew of releases back in September last year, Mason Madden and Mansoor were handed their release. Several months removed from their WWE release, the duo have made their way to ROH and now Mace has revealed why he didn’t bury WWE after their release.

During a recent interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Mason Madden and Mansoor talked about their lives outside of WWE. Madden initially mentioned he considered burying WWE during the interview but decided against it after receiving a royalty check.

When Sapp asked about their feelings outside of WWE, there was some confusion over the word “auspices,” leading to an amusing exchange about its meaning. Mansoor joked about being ready to criticize WWE but changed his tune after the royalty check arrived.

Madden expressed his appreciation for WWE, mentioning their upcoming international dates and their efforts to build a name outside of WWE. Madden joined in, thanking WWE for the royalties and noting how their checks used to be minimal while they were with the company.

Mansoor revealed that their royalty checks were significantly higher now compared to their time in WWE, where they were often only a few dollars or even cents due to contract arrangements and splitting earnings.

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “So you guys actually do wrestle here and there.”

MANSOOR: “From time to time.”

MASON MADDEN: “From time to time. We’re relatively busy.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “You guys are very busy. I saw you guys wrestle last

night as we’re here at Squared Circle Expo in Indianapolis
.”

MASON MADDEN: “Where we won.

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “You did.”

MANSOOR: “Yeah, we won.”

MASON MADDEN: “We won.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “You did. How are you feeling outside the auspices

of WWE?

MANSOOR: “Auspices.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Auspices.”

MANSOOR: “Isn’t he signed to AEW? Will Auspice.”

MASON MADDEN: “Auspice. I thought that’s where you go when you’re

dying
.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Yeah, that’s auspice care. Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

MANSOOR: “Do you have thoughts on this?”

MASON MADDEN: “Thoughts? An opinion? No, I don’t think much.”

MANSOOR: “Let me tell you this, I was so ready to come on this

interview—

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “I just thought I’d get a wrestling question in here,

you know?

MANSOOR: “Oh, nobody gives a s***.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “That’s fair.”

MANSOOR: “But I was so ready to come to this—I was ready to come.”

MASON MADDEN: “Come.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Whoa.”

MANSOOR: “Come Tuesday. I was so ready to come and bury the fed

and say. ‘We’re doing all these dates and we’re going all over the

world. We’re going to WrestleCon next week and then we’re going to

Paris for APC Catch and then we’re going to the Middle East. We’re

wrestling in Dubai, [towns]. We’re going everywhere. We got dates all

over the world that we can’t even announce yet and we’re making

ourselves a name and a product outside of WWE.’ But then, this

morning, our royalty check hit. I love the fed
.”

MASON MADDEN: “Thank you, WWE.”

MANSOOR: “Thank you, WWE. It’s all about the game and how you play

it. Thank you for our royalties, king. Thank you
.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “How much was it?”

MANSOOR: “Enough.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Several dollars at least.”

MANSOOR: “You’d be shocked.”

MASON MADDEN: “Now we’re thousandaires.”

SEAN ROSS SAPP: “Okay. I like that.”

MANSOOR: “Actually though, when we were in WWE, our royalty

checks would be like 25 cents because our contracts were made in a

way where—

MASON MADDEN: “I once got a—when I was in Retribution—I was

splitting it six ways
.”

MANSOOR: “He’s been split six ways before.”

MASON MADDEN: “Six ways. So when we’d get the royalty checks for

Retribution t-shirts—which I designed by the way, I gave that to them

for free—I’d get the check. It’d say, ‘Retribution t-shirt income and it

would be like $1.25.
’”

Mason Madden and Mansoor are clearly having a great time as part of Ring of Honor but will always be grateful for their time in WWE and that is all that truly matters to them at the moment.
