Atletico Madrid are unlikely to sell Samu Omorodion during the current transfer window as the forward wants to stay with the La Liga giants and will be assessed during pre-season.

The 20-year-old joined the Madrid club last summer as part of a €6m deal with Granada, states Matteo Moretto, before spending the campaign on loan at Deportivo Alaves.

Omorodion featured 35 times for the La Liga side this term as they finished in the top half of the Spanish league. The Spaniard produced eight goals and an assist with his performances catching the eye of West Ham ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Moretto has stated that the Hammers have seen a €40m bid including add-ons for Omorodion rejected as Atletico Madrid want to keep the player and his focus at present is to try and impress during pre-season, where Diego Simeone will be keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old.

Writing in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside’s The Daily Briefing, Moretto has provided an update on Omorodion’s future at Atletico Madrid as West Ham look to add the forward to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

“Atletico Madrid do not want to sell him, and Samu at the moment does not think about anything other than doing the preseason with Atletico and being noticed by Cholo Simeone,” the transfer journalist said.

“Atletico think he has great potential and that is why they rejected high offers for him.

“West Ham offered almost €40m including variables, and he cost just €6m last summer. Roma like him, but at the moment it is not viable. I repeat, at the moment Atletico have no intention of selling him. Simeone wants to watch him closely during the preseason.”
