Four Newcastle United players are heading to the European Championships in Germany.

The final deadline was 11pm on Friday 7 June for the 24 national managers to name their 26 man squads.

In the end this quartet of Newcastle United players will be on the planes to Euro 2024.

Fabian Schar with Switzerland, Martin Dubravka in the Slovakia squad, then of course Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon in Southgate’s England squad.

Having a look around the other final squads, I spotted eight former Newcastle United players who will also be in Germany:

Ivan Toney (England)

Matz Sels (Belgium)

Joselu, Mikel Merino, Ayoze Perez (Spain)

Grant Hanley (Scotland)

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Serbia)

Gini Wijnaldum (Holland)

Elsewhere, the Copa America will see Bruno Guimaraes competing with Brazil, as well as Miguel Almiron with Paraguay.

Yankuba Minteh has World Cup group qualifiers with Gambia, whilst Alexander Isak, Emil Krafth and Jamal Lewis have friendlies before knocking off for their summer break.
