Zvonimir Boban is an AC Milan legend who helped the club win four Serie A titles and a Champions League, has now been talking about Sandro Tonali, a more modern day AC Milan legend.
After those four Serie A titles in the 1990 with Boban, the next 22 seasons then saw only two more domestic league successes for AC Milan. The second of those two coming in the 2010/11 season.
It would be another 11 years until a 21 year old Sandro Tonali helped inspire AC Milan to their latest Serie A title.
In the present day, Zvonimir Boban thinks his old club are badly missing the now Newcastle United midfielder.
AC Milan last night took a 3rd minute lead through Pulisic but once Liverpool equalised 20 minutes later there was only one going to be one winner, the visitors running out easy 3-1 winners in the end.
AC Milan only managed one more shot on target after their goal, whilst Liverpool had 11 on target, humiliating for the hosts.
Serious pressure already on manager Paulo Fonseca who has only been in the job three months, as the AC Milan fans booed him and his team at the final whistle.
The opening four Serie A matches have seen poor performances and only one win, that was against rock bottom Venezia.
After the game, Zvonimir Boban pointing the finger at Sandro Tonali, saying his old club are missing the ability and heart of the Newcastle United star.
Paulo Fonseca has the derby against Inter Milan coming up this weekend and Zvonimir Boban sees serious issues for his old club and their manager:
“Big problems for Milan.
“In the middle of the field there is no one who takes responsibility to do more concrete, important things, to get the ball to the wingers or the attackers.
“The most worrying thing was really the lack of reaction at 3-1.
“Only Abraham did something good but evidently a leader is also missing.
“Milan sold Sandro Tonali, their best Italian player and very attached to the shirt.
“Seeing him away from Milan is a shame.
“These things then have to be paid for.
“When Sandro Tonali came to Milan he refused Juventus who had offered €42 million to Brescia: these are the values that must never be lost.”
Excellent for Italy in the September internationals, Sandro Tonali has also helped Newcastle United to a trio of wins over Spurs, Forest and Wolves, in his three appearances so far this season.
All eyes now on Saturday for Newcastle United fans, to see if Sandro Tonali will make his first Premier League start of the season, as United look for yet another away win at Fulham.
