Adam Nagaitis (The Terror, Chernobyl), Josef Davies (Andor, The Hunt for Raoul Moat) and Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (I, Jack Wright, Shardlake) are set as series regulars in Star City, rounding out the cast of Apple’s upcoming For All Mankind spinoff. They join previously announced Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, Solly McLeod, Agnes O’Casey and Alice Englert.
Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, Star City is another alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.
Nagaitis will play Valya, a highly respected cosmonaut within the Soviet Space program.
Davies portrays Sergei, a young, brilliant engineer who works at Soviet Ground Control.
Serkis is Tanya, a cosmonaut’s wife that struggles within the confined world of Star City.
Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners and executive produce alongside Moore and Davis of Tall Ship Productions along with Steve Oster and Andrew Chambliss. Just like the mothership For All Mankind, which was recently renewed for a fifth season, Star City is produced for Apple TV+ by Sony Pictures Television.
Nagaitis recently wrapped the Disney+ series A Thousand Blows alongside Stephen Graham and will be seen in Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s thriller American Star with lan McShane. He also appeared in The Responder for BBC One alongside Martin Freeman. Nagaitis is repped by Jane Epstein & Florence Rose at Independent Talent Group.
Davies will next be seen in The Seven Dials Mystery for Netflix and Grace for ITV. His recent credits include Andor, the Star Wars: Rouge One prequel for Disney opposite Stellan Skarsgård, and a series regular role in Young Wallander: Killer’s Shadow on Netflix. He’s repped by Curtis Brown and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman Smelkinson, & Christopher LLP.
Serkis will next be seen in Jack Wright, UKTV’s new family television drama. Her previous credits include Shardlake, the Disney adaptation of the best-selling historical mystery series by C. J. Sansom. She also featured in Amazon’s Becoming Elizabeth, as well as the BBC’s The Serpent. She’s repped by Lou Coulson Associates.
