At the start of Hansi Flick’s stint at Barcelona, the German tactician made a crucial decision to bring in former midfielder Thiago Alcantara as part of his coaching staff.
Thiago was roped in to help the Barcelona team with the initial transition process under the German tactician.
The move turned out to be a masterstroke as the Spaniard played a key role in balancing the dressing room while his understanding of Flick’s methods helped him mentor the Barcelona stars.
Thiago return not a possibility this summer
While Thiago did eventually leave Barcelona’s coaching staff in August, the impact he had on the dressing room was quite significant.
Because of that, there have been talks of a permanent place for Thiago in Flick’s coaching staff at Barcelona. In fact, there were talks of him re-linking with the Catalans in January itself.
However, local news outlet Catalunya Radio has confirmed that Thiago’s return to Barcelona’s coaching staff has been practically ruled out this season.

Thiago wants to return to Barcelona
The report, though, confirms that Thiago wants to return to Barcelona, potentially to rejoin Flick’s coaching staff.
Therefore, the idea of the former midfielder’s comeback as part of the staff under Flick could be considered again in the summer.
Flick, for his part, might fancy having the former La Masia graduate rejoin him at the club next season.
As for Thiago, the Spaniard hasn’t taken up any new role since leaving Barcelona in August. A return, to that end, could serve as an ideal opportunity for the former midfielder to gain some valuable coaching experience.
