Manchester United have been linked with Niclas Fullkrug but former Germany international Markus Babbel believes it would be the wrong move.

In turn, the Reds have been advised to stay away from Fullkrug, despite his impressive performances at Euro 2024.

Germany will no longer compete in the European Championship after being eliminated by Spain in extra time on Friday night.

Fullkrug scored two goals at the tournament, one against Scotland in their 5-1 hammering and the other a 91st-minute equaliser against Switzerland.

However, the Borussia Dortmund striker could not help Julian Nagelsmann’s side qualify for the semi-finals.

But that won’t stop Fullkrug being linked with a move to United this summer.

The striker doesn’t quite fit United’s signing profile due to age as there will be a focus on younger signings (24 and under) in the future.

Some will argue that an experienced striker is needed to provide support for Rasmus Hojlund, although I would prefer to see United sign another young forward to compete with the Dane for a place in the team.

Many feel Fullkrug could be the answer after watching the Euros this summer, but former Premier League defender and Germany international Markus Babbel believes the striker isn’t the answer for Erik ten Hag’s issues in front of goal.

Babbel told bet365, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “It depends on how you want to play. If you know you have to play with crosses then he’s the perfect player because he’s very good in the air and so strong.

“Fans love him because he’s normal. He’s not a superstar. He’s not doing crazy things. So the supporters love him and I think it’s a fantastic option to have. Kai Havertz is very skilful. He’s a different kind of striker. Niclas Fullkrug is the typical number nine.

“He’s not skilful but he’s so strong in the box and he’s a perfect number nine. I’m not sure if he’s this good to play for a massive club like Manchester United, but he can definitely play in the Premier League.”

Let us know in the comments section if you think Fullkrug would be a good buy for United.
