Bastian Schweinsteiger admits he would ‘love’ to see Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford in a better team.

Rashford, 26, has been subject to lots of criticism this season after failing to build on a career-best 2022/23 campaign.

The England international scored 30 goals in all competitions last term, helping Erik ten Hag finish third in the Premier League and end United’s six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup.

This season, however, United have struggled on the pitch and look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League. Rashford has regressed too, scoring just eight times in 39 appearances.

Unfortunately for United, the dip in form came after Rashford was rewarded a bumper new contract last summer. That deal is believed to be worth £300,000-a-week and it runs until 2028.

Rashford has looked unhappy because of his form, but some pundits have aimed at him for his body language with questions over his commitment to the cause.

In response to all of this, Schweinsteiger has urged Rashford to take his future into his own hands, backing our No. 10 to find new levels to his game at another club.

“I would love to see him [Marcus Rashford] in a better team, where he gets the balls at the right moment,” Schweinsteiger told Gary Neville for The Overlap podcast.

“I would love to see that because in the years past, you didn’t really see that, so if he would play for a different team, maybe he would also increase his level a little bit more.

“He’s still the player who can decide the games, but he doesn’t show it too many times because maybe inside he’s a little bit frustrated.”
