Former Chicago Bears’ defensive tackle Steve McMichael has been struggling with health issues for the past couple of years now. The former WCW star was admitted to the hospital a few days ago with suspected pneumonia.

A couple of days ago, an update on his health stated that McMichael was getting blood transfusion and had MRSA, an infection that makes the body resistant to numerous kinds of antibiotics.

However, McMichael’s family has now revealed via X/Twitter that the 66-year-old has started responding to antibiotics and might be back home as soon as Tuesday. With a positive update on his health, his fans have taken a sigh of relief.

“Update on Steve McMichael: Great news – Mongo is feeling better and he’s responding well to the antibiotics. The hope is to have him back at home on Tuesday. Please keep sending up your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family.”

Steve McMichael was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) back in 2021. Soon after he learned about it, he announced his retirement from any public appearances in the future. He also received the ALS Courage Award from the Les Turner ALS Foundation later in the year.

Though McMichael has not made a lot of public appearances since his diagnosis, photos of him meeting his former teammates and professional wrestlers have surfaced the internet in the past.
