Elias was a notable example of WWE struggling to find a suitable direction for a specific talent. He was released from WWE last year, and he has now expressed an interest in working at AEW.

Ringside News exclusively reported that there was a widespread belief within WWE that Elias’ Ezekiel storyline had a detrimental effect on his career. Regrettably, he was unable to bounce back from it, leading to his eventual release from the company.

Following his release from WWE, Elias, now going by the name Elijah, participated in singles match against ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey at last week’s Wrestling REVOLVER event. Despite the loss, he garnered praise from many fans for his performance in the match.

Elijah expressed his thoughts on finding AEW, TNA, or NJPW the most appealing during an interview with Jamal Niaz for Monopoly Events at For The Love of Wrestling. He highlighted the advantages and personal appeal of each promotion, expressing interest in showcasing unexpected aspects of his character in New Japan, evolving his persona in front of a TV audience, and exploring opportunities with all three promotions.

“Every one of them has their advantages and just appeal to me, just from a personal standpoint. I think it’d be cool to go to Japan and work for New Japan, just to show something that people might have not expected. They might associate me in a certain way, and I would just love to just kind of blow that expectation away. I feel like if you picture Elias or Elijah in New Japan, it’s not an immediate, obvious connection.”

”But then I feel like if I’m put in that environment, ‘Oh, hey, guess that? This can work out too.’ The same with AEW, or TNA, I mean I love the idea. I have plenty of ideas about how to evolve my character and take it to the next step, and I feel like you need a TV audience in order to show that. So we’ll have to see what kind of opportunities come my way and which way we go, but all three of them are very appealing.”

Elijah’s future in 2024 holds anticipation from fans who hope for his success in the wrestling business. Whether he decides to join Tony Khan’s AEW or explores other opportunities, only time will reveal the next steps in his career.
