A non-governmental organisation, Good Home Better Society Foundation, dedicated to family support and youth empowerment, at the weekend, provided free eyeglasses to over 120 people in Lagos.
The foundation also addressed broader health and societal needs, hosting a medical outreach, marriage seminar, and movie preview at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory Headquarters, Olorunda Ketu, Lagos State.
The founder of the NGO, Mr Oluwabusuyi Ogunrinola, speaking at the event, stressed the organisation’s commitment to creating a crime-free and livable society.
“Good Home Better Society was created to make our society liveable and crime-free,” he stated.
“We believe that by strengthening the family unit, we can enhance the well-being of the entire society,” he added.
Ogunrinola said the foundation has impacted over 1,500 people in the past through its medical outreach, hunger relief, and empowerment programmes.
At the event, attendees got free eye tests, with over 120 people receiving eyeglasses and an additional 11 receiving consultations.
“We treated over 100 people for high blood pressure and diabetes,” he noted, adding that dental care was also provided to over 70 adults and 45 children.
He said participants received essential medications like paracetamol, vitamin C, and worm expellers.
“With official registration completed just last year, the Good Home Better Society Foundation has rapidly expanded its reach.
“We’ve been able to grow the foundation significantly, and many of our beneficiaries have praised its impact,” Ogunrinola said.
He explained that while formal skills acquisition programmes are still in development, the foundation has empowered young people indirectly, helping them gain valuable skills.
The event also featured a preview of New Wine, a film centred on family values, which served as a fundraising opportunity to support future projects.
“Funds raised from the event will help expand the foundation’s mission to uplift and empower families and young people,” Ogunrinola said.
Since 2013, the Good Home Better Society Foundation has hosted the ‘Marriage Without Tears’ programme, supporting families by addressing marriage dynamics and promoting resilience.
The guest speaker, Deaconess Janet Owoeye, drawing from Genesis 30:1-2, where Rachael cried out to her husband, Jacob, “Give me children, or I shall die,” highlighted the importance of emotional control in maintaining a peaceful home.
“Women should not bring issues from work to their homes,” Owoeye advised, adding that “Learning to separate work challenges from home life is crucial to maintaining a healthy family environment.”
